Male infertility treatment in Barcelona, Spain

Approximately 10-15% of couples experience problems with fertility, and in more than 50% of cases the infertility problem is down to the male. A thorough study can diagnose the causes that affects the fertility in the male and can detect diseases such as testicular cancer, genetic disorders or a deficit in the production of testosterone, which is essential for many functions. The detection of problems such as infections, a varicocele or obstructions of the seminal duct, means that the male can undergo medical or surgical treatment without the couple needing to resort to assisted reproduction techniques such as IVF. Vasectomy reversal (vasovasostomy) in Barcelona, Spain

Approximately 3-5% of men, who have undergone a vasectomy, opt to have a vasectomy reversal (vasovasostomy) for various reasons including, change of partner, death of children, desire for more children with the same partner etc... With microsurgery it is possible to reverse the vasectomy surgery by re-joining the vas deferens (which is the sperm carrying tube). The vasovasostomy is performed in most cases under local anaesthesia and lasts approximately 90 minutes.

Another way to achieve pregnancy, after having had a vasectomy is through in vitro fertilisation (IVF). Sperm is still produced in the testicles after a vasectomy, which can be used for successful IVF treatment. Read more about vasectomy reversal (vasovasostomy) in Barcelona, Spain.

Sexual dysfunction treatment in Barcelona, Spain

Sexual problems in men are mainly erectile dysfunction (impotence) and premature ejaculation, which are often associated with major health problems such diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease and depression. Therefore accurate diagnosis of the sexual dysfunction is needed in order to identify its cause/s and recommend appropriate treatment.

There are various methods used for the treatment of sexual dysfunction in men. Oral drugs, psychotherapy, penile injections of vasodilated drugs, vacuum devices and penile prosthesis usually solve the problem in most cases.

The most frequent sexual dysfunctions in women are the lack of sexual desire, excitability , orgasm disorders or pain during intercourse. These problems have to be appropiatly studied  in order to apply the best treatment for each woman.

Andropause (male hormonal disorders in the elderly)

Some men as they get older have a decrease in testosterone. This hormone is essential for sexual function and for many other organs and functions ( bone, muscle, fat, brain, heart function, etc.)

The amount of testosterone can be measured in the blood in order to detect a testosterone deficiency (andropause). There are very successful treatments available for testosterone therapy replacement, either in the form of gels that are applied daily to the skin or injections that are administered every 3 months.
