The Fertility Institute of Murcia (IMFER): Infertility treatment and egg donation in Spain

IMFER (Instituto Murciano de Fertilidad) was created in 1998 with the aim to solve problems of human sterility by considering all the contributing factors. Its founders have been working together in the field of assisted reproduction for many years: Dr. Antonio Callizo Gutiérrez, Obstetrician Gynaecologist, has specialised in infertility problems since the beginning of his career 27 years ago, while Dr. Miguel Ángel Fernández Pérez, thanks to his long career and over 15 years experience, was accredited as Senior Clinical Embryologist by the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embriology (ESHRE).

Even before the foundation of the clinic, IMFER had already put in place an egg donation programme. From their collaboration, the first baby conceived by IVF in the region of Murcia was born in 1997. 

Since then every scientific discovery related to assisted reproduction has found an application at IMFER, which allows them to offer their patients all the techniques currently authorised in Spain. IMFER are one of the very few clinics in Spain offering IMSI, a technique particularly useful for the treatment of male infertility.

One of the most popular treatments among overseas patients is egg donation, which in Spain is a legal, totally anonymous, and confidential procedure. In order to maximise your chances, at IMFER, all the eggs produced by a donor in one cycle are assigned exclusively to one recipient.

IMFER will do their best to tailor their treatment and accommodation services so that they are in sync with your availability. In some cases a first consultation by video conference or phone is a possibility.

Thanks to IMFER's results and reliability, they have become accredited collaborators of Murcia’s public health service, as well as that of different medical and insurance companies. IMFER are often asked to carry out fertility treatments with their patients.

IMFER’s team has developed and refined their service over the years: they are now a team of over 20 people. However, 

they have not lost the spirit that they have always instilled in their relationships with clients: they are committed to taking care of you in a personalised and friendly way.

IMFER believe that patients who undergo fertility treatment should have access to the most advanced techniques as well as be fully supported throughout the entire process. That is why IMFER's two international coordinators will be in charge of managing your case, replying to your questions, and putting your doubts to rest in a prompt and timely manner. Through permanent contact by phone or email, they will act as liaison between you and the medical team, supporting you in each phase of the treatment.

The IMFER clinic has just relocated to state-of-the-art facilities, in order to improve the quality of their services without losing the personal and warm relationship they have with their patients.
