How is artificial insemination from the partner or a donor performed?
This procedure consists of inserting the spermatozoids through a cannula into the uterus, coinciding with ovulation. It’s a straightforward technique, with a success rate of 15% to 25% per cycle, or 30% to 40% after four attempts.
What is in vitro fertilisation IVF-ICSI?
This consists of obtaining embryos, after the 'in vitro' fertilisation of the eggs in the laboratory, in order to transfer them to the uterus.
When is IVF with donor eggs necessary?
It’s necessary when the eggs are of low quality or are very limited (due to menopause, surgery or genetics etc). The most effective option in these cases is the use of donor eggs, fertilising them with the semen of the partner, transferring the embryos to the future mother’s uterus. The success rate is 60%.
Fertilab's sperm bank
The sperm bank is an integrated service in Fertilab's reproduction clinic, that conserves frozen semen at low temperatures (-196 ºC) in liquid Nitrogen so that it can be used when the time is right. Anonymous sperm donation samples, to be used in assisted reproduction in cases that require donor sperm, are kept frozen in the bank.
Natural reproduction
At Fertilab they try to achieve fertility through all methods, performing all necessary tests to diagnose the possible causes of infertility (feminine and masculine). They can also advise on the correction of toxic habits and unbalanced diets, help to diminish anxiety and supplement your diet with antioxidants in order to improve the fertilisation capacity of the spermatozoa and the quality of the eggs, and thus stimulate natural embryo implantation.
